This week we responded to a client’s emergency call out for a blocked drain that was backing up into their building.
After some attempts to unblock the pipe, it became apparent the cause was far more significant than first hoped.
Further investigation and a CCTV survey led to the point where it was apparent the pipe had collapsed through water exfiltrating through leaking joints over time which caused a washaway, weakening the pipe’s structure and integrity.
One of our reactive civils teams was dispatched, safe zones were created and what became a complicated excavation due to a hidden unknown utility box was found, the repair was undertaken with the pipe being replaced before then being backfilled and the surface reinstated.
